Search and rescue spends seventh day searching for missing Chico man

The search is underway for a seventh day today, Feb. 6, to locate Frank Christopher, 53, of Chico who is believed to have gone missing near the Rock Creek drainage in the Feather River Canyon.
Christopher’s family reported him missing last Sunday when he failed to return from a camping trip. His truck was found parked near the area that is now being searched.
Plumas County Search and Rescue has been aided by search teams from Marin, Trinity, Nevada, and Butte counties. The California Air National Guard’s Black Hawk Helicopter, and Civil Air Patrol also have been involved. A Butte County Sheriff’s helicopter aided in the search, as did Plumas County Sheriff deputies, totaling more than 50 personnel all together. Drones and other search equipment have been integral to the search, which covers very dangerous terrain.
Plumas County Search and Rescue personnel have been in the canyon searching for Christopher from dawn to nightfall since last Monday. At times, other calls for assistance that would normally be handled by search and rescue were redirected, because all of the volunteers were in the canyon. As a result, a Sheriff’s spokesman said some personnel now are remaining available to provide response in other areas of the county as needed.
