Sheriff anticipates mandatory evacuations for some today

Plumas County Sheriff Todd Johns issued an evacuation warning at 1 a.m. this morning, March 14, and said he is anticipating mandatory evacuations by 10 a.m. today. Deputies were out early this morning warning residents in the low-lying areas that typically flood.

The flood warning remains in effect until Friday.

Moderate flooding is forecast along the Middle Fork Feather River near Portola from late tonight to early Friday morning.

Moderate flooding of lowlands, roads, homes, businesses and structures along river from Beckwourth to Clio is possible.
