Slick conditions leads to rollover

Joshua Gregorich, 25, of Portola, was driving a 2003 Volkswagon westbound on Highway 70 east of Mohawk Vista Road at 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 17. It had been snowing and raining earlier in the morning, and the road surface was wet.

According to the CHP report, the rear tires of his vehicle broke traction with the road, causing Gregorich to lose control of it. The vehicle swerved off the roadway and traveled in a northwesterly direction upon the north shoulder. The vehicle continued up an embankment where it struck a rock and subsequently overturned onto its roof as it came back down the embankment. The vehicle came to rest on its roof, facing in a northeasterly direction, and blocking the westbound lane of Highway 70. Gregorich was wearing his seatbelt, which kept him in the vehicle during the collision. He was taken to Eastern Plumas Health Care with minor injuries.
