The 34th Annual Street Rod Extravaganza is again coming to Chester on Saturday Sept. 11 at Chester Community Park. Beautiful classic vehicles of many types will be on display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the viewing pleasure of car lovers young and old.

This year’s extravaganza is sponsored by the Lake Almanor Elks Lodge 2626, which should be a welcome day of outdoor fun and nostalgic memories for many.  Event Coordinator George Grams stated, “We anticipate a great turnout of cars with a wide variety of models and vintages whose owners are excited to share their passion with others.”

Adding to the weekend activities will be the Friday evening “Taco Night” at the Elks Lodge from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; a “Friday Night Town Cruise” featuring many of the Extravaganza cars starting at 7 p.m. and a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Later-on in the day at the park, the Elks will be offering a BBQ Lunch beginning at 11 a.m. They will also have beer, wine, water and sodas available. Other fun features will include; a silent auction, free popcorn, face painting for children and prize drawings for registrants.

This Extravaganza was formerly hosted by the Almanor Recreation and Parks District but, due to other commitments, they have passed sponsoring the event to the Lake Almanor Elks Lodge 2626. “We are happy to be hosting this event that has been a tradition in Chester for 33 years. We hope the entire community will come out and enjoys the day as we embrace the event, the 20th anniversary of 9-11 and sharing time with one another, which we have missed,” adds Terry Parson, Elks President.

The event is free to the public with all proceeds going to Elks Lodge charitable giving.  For those interested in displaying their car(s), you can register on-line at www.lakealmanorarea.com/streetrod. For additional information or questions, please call George Grams at 530-519-6428. (link)

To be sure, you will want to look for this beauty while you’re at the park. It’s the one featured on the Flyer for the 34th Annual Street Rod Extravaganza. These classic vehicles are enjoyed by all ages, but for those that grew up in the ’50s, ’60s or ’70s they can bring back memories of wonderful times. Photos courtesy of Lake Almanor Elks
