Summer wraps up at luau

School’s back in session and while it may still be hot, summer is saying goodbye — which means it’s time for the annual Indian Valley Community Pool Luau!

This year’s festivities take place Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Taylorsville Pool and adjacent park.

There will be one last chance to swim between 4 and 5 p.m. for the kids and cocktails for adults.

Dinner starts at 5 p.m. and goes to 6 p.m., consisting of teriyaki pork loin, coleslaw, fried rice and desserts.

As always, keyboard renditions of Hawaiian themed music will set the mood. This year there will be a Hula Hoop contest.

Tickets for the event are $15 for ages 13-plus and $10 for children 12 and under and are available for purchase at the pool or Taylorsville Tavern in advance or on the day of the event.

For more information, call Laura Kearns at 284-9980.

The annual luau is the pool’s big fundraiser for the year and proceeds go toward the continued maintenance and running of the pool in summer months.
