Sweet fundraiser for sixth-graders

Toy Store/The Scoop owner Matt Kitchens donated 50 percent of all ice cream sales and 25 percent of all clothing sales for one week, resulting in  a $930 donation to Quincy Elementary School sixth-graders who will take the annual Plumas to the Pacific trip. This is the third year for the sales — the event raised $1,081 last year and $800 the year prior.

Fifth-grade parent Matt Warren said he appreciated the generosity of Kitchens, who supported the event, even though the toy store owner doesn’t have a sixth-grader.

Kitchens said he makes the donation because he thinks it’s important for the students to learn about the watershed.
