Taylorsville rodeo club heads to state finals in Bishop

The Indian Valley Roping and Riding Club’s rodeo team is headed to Bishop beginning Sunday, June 11, to participate in the California High School Rodeo Association state finals.

Several club members will be competing in the various events they qualified in. Drew Tilton and Corte Smith qualified in team roping. Shasta Banchio will compete in goat tying and is an alternate in breakaway roping. Tanner Meigs will compete in boys cutting. Faith Ann Cassol is an alternate in team roping.

In addition to team roping, Corte Smith qualified in calf roping and steer wrestling.

For high school seniors Meigs, Banchio and Smith, this will be their last competition in high school. They hope to continue rodeo at the college level.
