The Holidays in Indian Valley
The holidays are upon us! How will you spend them in Indian Valley? Here is the list of ways you and your family can participate in the festivities.
Lights Parade
In Taylorsville, the holiday kicks off Saturday, Nov. 30. Begin at Taylorsville Tavern for chili dinner at 4 p.m. Christmas Tree Lighting begins at 5 p.m. The parade starts at Indian Valley Museum at 6 p.m. Santa will appear across from the Taylorsville Tavern.
Snowflakes

On Sunday, Dec. 1, Young’s Market in Taylorsville will venture to the Plumas County Library in Quincy, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., for its annual snowflake-making tradition. Bring your own scissors and join the fun.
Festival of Trees/Memorial Lights
On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Indian Valley Recreation and Parks District will sponsor its annual Festival of Trees in the Indian Valley Community Center. Christmas trees are decorated by local businesses and organizations, competing for a decorating prize.
The evening includes booths and craft tables for children of all ages to build wreaths, make cards and other crafts. There will be holiday music and a stew for sale and plenty of baked goods.
Santa Claus makes an appearance, too, and is available for photos. He will have a gift ready for each child who visits.
The event begins at 5 p.m. Those who wish to volunteer or to sign up to decorate a tree can call 284-7385.
The annual memorial tree lighting takes place at 5:45 p.m. in front of the Indian Valley Community Center. Those who wish to add the name of a loved one should contact the IV Chamber of Commerce at 294-6633.
Chamber Mixer
Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual End of the Year Chamber Mixer on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m., at the Greenville Town Hall. It’s a potluck and everyone’s invited. Come see who Indian Valley’s person of the year is.
American Legion Christmas Dinner
The local American Legion hosts a Christmas dinner for the community complete with a visit from Santa on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m. The post is located at 430 Main St. across from the post office.
Christmas Play
The Community United Methodist Church, 4264 Nelson St., in Taylorsville is sponsoring an all-children cast Christmas play Sunday morning, Dec. 15, at 9:30 a.m.
Holiday Concert
Listen to Greenville Elementary and High School students play holiday songs at the annual Holiday Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m., at the GES cafeteria.
