Quincy residents may have noticed that their Post Office boxes and home mail boxes have been empty. That’s because their mail, which originates in Sacramento, has been held up due to the weather and road closures. That’s about to change.
According to personnel at the Quincy office, mail is expected to arrive in mass quantities Friday, Dec. 31. Workers will begin distributing the mail as soon as possible. Mail carriers will resume home delivery by Monday at the latest.
Though the mail hasn’t been arriving, mail has been going out through Reno.
The problems have been unique to Quincy; post offices in Portola and Chester report that mail service has been virtually uninterrupted as their mail originates in Reno.
