The wonders of nature

One of the wonders of living in the Lake Almanor Basin is being able to witness on a regular basis how the real world, nature, works. While walking on the Chester causeway early on the morning of Feb. 14, this photographer watched this red-tailed hawk land on top of a pole just long enough to confirm the location of his breakfast. He paused in this poised position for just a moment and then like an arrow, rocketed to his target about 200 yards away. Realizing that many urbanbased folks will probably never see this type of wondrous event, hopefully those of us lucky enough to live in the basin will never take opportunities like this for granted.
