Truck into storefront

A truck smashed a storefront and ended up parked on the sidewalk in downtown Quincy on Tuesday afternoon. Around 3:30 p.m., a driver who was making the left curve east onto Main Street from Crescent Street in front of the courthouse, said his gas pedal stuck and he tried to stop, but went up over the sidewalk on the north side of the roadway. The truck avoided the cars parked along Main Street, but smashed the large glass window in Forest Stationers, as well the large carved wooden bear and newspaper boxes in front of the store. Bob Reinitz, the store’s owner, was sitting at the desk directly on the other side of the glass, when it suddenly shattered. He immediately called 911. Rescue personnel were there within minutes due to the proximity of the hospital, fire and CHP. Sheriff’s deputies were in the courthouse as it occurred and heard the commotion. There were no injuries to pedestrians or other motorists. The driver was being interviewed by the CHP following the incident.

  • I’m glad everyone is ok. Please be kind to the driver. He didn’t do it on purpose, it was an accident.

  • Thank goodness Bob Reinitz is ok!!!

  • This is the definition of the word accident. I’m glad no one was seriously hurt. All that was damaged can be replaced.

  • Haha.

  • Don’t know how this is funny. Thankful no one was hurt. Accident’s do happen.

  • Thank goodness.

  • When Quincy was great, main street was two ways.

Make main street great again, end one way traffic now!

    • Yeah, right.

More traffic and congestion on those two roads these days so your plan would probably require traffic control lights near Linden and at Crescent Street too.

Not what we need, pass on that!!

  • If you ever feel like you’ve done something stupid, just remembered some people actually voted for Trump/GOP.

  • That’s my X landlords truck
