Unique Water Trails Map features recreational activities

The result of more than two years of planning by committee members of the Caribou Alliance of Trails, along with community volunteers working with local businesses owners, the Almanor Basin Water Trails Map is specifically designed to highlight Lake Almanor’s 52 miles of forested shoreline where hikers, boaters, bicyclists, kayakers and other users can plan their recreational activities.

The only one of its kind, the first edition of the map is still available to purchase for $10 at several outlets.

Essentially a recreation atlas, the map includes an index of nearly 100 local businesses that provide specific services for locals and tourists alike who wish to plan recreational activities.

The Almanor Basin Water Trails Map is itself made of water resistant coated paper for long life, and features shoreline access to the lake, boat launching sites, camping supply stores, marinas and resorts, campgrounds, fishing spots, plus walking, biking, and hiking trails around the lake.  In addition, the unique water map also lists grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, pizza parlors, pubs, gas stations, lodging, RV parks, picnic areas and more.

Text on wildlife, safety information, elevations, some local history and other useful information such as the website for current weather updates are detailed within its pages.

Sites like Butt Lake and the Mountain Meadows area near the town of Westwood are also highlighted.
