USFS: River Fire presents no danger to Quincy

People in Quincy may have noticed the smoke that is visible to the south of town. It first became visible yesterday after noon and was attributed to smoke drifting from the River Fire outside of Colfax in Placer and Nevada counties.

The fire, as of this morning, is 2400 acres and moving in a northeasterly direction along the Bear River. Cal Fire and many other resources are actively engaged in suppressing this fire and it is no danger to Quincy.

The weather and fuel conditions there, are similar to what is being experienced here, and it is expected that smoke will continue to be visible in Quincy until a change in wind direction takes place.
