Warm and dry October in the Almanor Basin
By Dale Knutsen

The Lake Almanor basin was considerably warmer than usual during October, with high temperatures running more than 8 degrees above the long-term average. Morning lows ended up within half a degree of the norm, leading to some wide differences between those daily lows and highs. The typical October day had more than a 40 degree spread in temperatures, with two days producing a 50 degree spread.
There’s not much to say about precipitation in October. Our July-June season total as of Halloween stood at 1.88 inches, or 62 percent of the long-term average for that date. However, November is looking promising. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.
