Waste Management advises customers on what to do moving forward

Waste Management announced this afternoon that it has resumed curbside collections in Plumas County for customers living outside of mandatory evacuation zones.

Customers are asked to place carts curbside on their regularly scheduled collection day and place any excess trash in bags next to their carts for collection. While operations have resumed, there could still be delays of up to one day for service.

Since service is continually changing based on the unpredictability of the Dixie Fire and surrounding air quality, the best way to learn about these constant changes is to ensure customer contact information is up to date.

WM customers are encouraged to update their communication preferences online at wm.com/mypreferences. Customers can choose to be contacted via text, phone or email.

WM service is impacted for a variety of reasons including areas being closed due to mandatory evacuations, extremely poor air quality and the unpredictable fire danger. Many of our drivers live impacted neighborhoods and are also under mandatory evacuations.

In addition, two transfer stations used by the area are currently closed.
