Wildfire Preparedness Fair set for May 13

May is Wildfire Preparedness Month. To help residents prepare for the fire season, the Plumas County Fire Safe Council is hosting a Wildfire Preparedness Fair at the Plumas Sierra County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 13, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The event features over 15 booths representing local organizations, businesses, and agencies that provide services and information for residents.

Each booth will hand out raffle tickets to visitors. Raffle items include rakes, fire resistant tarps, and other preparedness items. Participants do not need to be present to win.

A hotdog BBQ fundraiser will be offered by the Plumas Underburn Cooperative.

The Fire Safe Council’s programs are currently open for registration. Stop by the Fire Safe booth to learn about opportunities for no-cost chipping, defensible space, and fire safe home visits, as well as other assistance programs.
