Clear some space on your bookshelves because the Quincy Friends of the Plumas County Library is gearing up for its big November Book Sale!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, Nov. 7, 2 – 6 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the library, 445 Jackson St.

Thursday is for Friends members only, but you can join the Friends or renew your membership on the spot.

Look forward to a large selection of gently used books including many holiday-themed items perfect for gift giving, for help with entertaining or for your own fireside enjoyment. Non-fiction books are organized by category, and hardback and paperback fiction are alphabetized by author so you can find what you’re looking for with ease.

Friends also has many special pre-sale auction items available for bidding at Plumas Bank’s Quincy branch. The special pre-sale auction only runs through Friday, Nov. 1,so be sure to stop by right away.

Funds raised through the book sales go entirely to the support of the Quincy Library. Quincy Friends has helped fund Saturday hours, new book and equipment purchases, along with many improvements to the meeting room to help the library better serve the community.

Friends has had the help of many wonderful volunteers during past sales and hope for help with the November sale as well. If interested, call Jimmie Oneal at 283-9854 in advance so that Jimmie can let you know what specific days and hours volunteers are most needed. Volunteers should be willing to sign up for two-hour shifts. You do not need to be a member of the Friends of the Library to help.

Please be aware that no book donations will be accepted during the sale itself. Also, please be sure that books donated at other times comply with Friends’ book donation guidelines posted at the library.

For a copy of these guidelines, or information about volunteering or any other aspect of the Friends’ work, email Quincy Friends at [email protected] or call Jimmie Oneal at the number above.
