World Champion Longboard winners collect medals

Submitted by Lisa Kelly

The weather outside was frightful, but the races were so delightful! Big props to all the racers and spectators who braved the elements at the Plumas Eureka Ski Bowl; to the Plumas Ski Club members and to the volunteers who had amazing fortitude (and good jackets) to host a memorable World Championship March race!

Though, the inclement weather drew a slightly smaller field of both racers and spectators — there were 11 women and 25 men racers signed up to compete for the gold! The falling snow made for a dynamic race course and proved once again that “DOPE IS KING.” With the right mix of wax and other potent compounds, racers could overcome a slow start and speed across the jello-yellow finish line to victory.

This race, the third of the season, was the culmination of the 2023 Longboard Race season. Winners took home the coveted Title Belt the glory and all the bragging rights! A huge thanks to all the volunteers and support of the community and a very special thanks to Don Fregulia (and Family) for their tireless and dedicated work to put these races together!

Congratulations to the March 19th right honorable winners!
