The final Portola Concert in the Park, the Fiesta del Sol, is slated for Friday, Aug. 2, starting 4 p.m. at the Portola City Park.
The evening will feature an array of flavors served up by Lena’s Cantina, with tostadas on the menu, and the bartending skills of Matt Kruse at the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage booth, co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Portola and the Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce.
Kids games for all ages will be in full swing between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., with event organizers revealing a planned agility course, bean bag toss, bean and spoon race, pin the tail on the donkey, and, of course, piñatas.
The dance music of Vicente Arreola y su Norteño Banda will commence at 6 p.m. on the main stage, and there will be a prize drawing with tickets available throughout the evening’s festivities. The drawing includes many items donated by Portola and Graeagle merchants, and all funds raised go to the Lost Sierra Visitors Center.
Local craft vendors are invited to set up shop in the park at no cost, according to the Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce. “We are hoping that the community will enjoy this final concert of the series and get involved,” said Donna Mills of the Chamber.
Portola Concerts in the Park are free to the public, and the event is family and pet friendly. All are invited to bring a chair or blanket, dancing shoes and enjoy the Fiesta del Sol.
These concerts are sponsored by the Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the city of Portola, Plumas Arts, and Pete Rhode PA & Sound. For more information, call 836-6811 or visit lostsierrachamber.com.
