Courage Triathlon

“We have partnered with so many amazing community members, businesses and awesome participants from Plumas County and all over several states, that come out each year to “run so they don’t have to!” said Courage Triathlon organizer Dawn Hershberger. The event, set for Saturday, Aug. 24, combines a 2.8-mile run, a 7.1-mile bike ride and 4.1-mile kayak paddle all along the scenic and stunning shores of Lake Almanor.

Participants can take on the event as a team of three members or as an individual.

Awards are presented in several age divisions and are hand crafted by the Edge Art Gallery in Newport, Oregon.

“We have had participants from ages 9 to 86 compete!” said Hershberger. “The Triathlon is kept upbeat and full of energy by Doug Cains Sound productions.”

Professional timing results are managed by The Bizz Running Company for participants and the Triathlon begins and ends at the Plumas Pines Resort in Canyon Dam.

“The Triathlon is unique as it is compatible to many different levels of athletic abilities,” said Hershberger. “Some come out to cross off a bucket list, some come to avidly compete for best time and some come just to challenge self or to just help provide funds that support those rescued from human trafficking.”

Yes, the event is a fundraiser with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to providing services for victims rescued from the exploitation of human trafficking.

“No matter the reason you come, you are sure to leave excited for the next year!” assured Hershberger confidently. “The event is put on all by courageous volunteers and generous sponsors who care about our communities.

We are excited to see you soon!”
