Golf Results for the week of 10/4/17

Graeagle Men’s Golf Club

The Friday Badditos on Sept. 22 saw Mike O’Rear and George Fraser tie for first place with a net 66. Mike Gibson took third place with a 67.

O’Rear had a good day. In addition to tying for first place, he also took three skins. The remaining four skins were won by Gibson, with two and Fraser and Knudsen, with one each.

The Big Chief Couples tournament was held on Sunday, Sept. 24. It was best net ball on the par 4s and par 5s, with both balls counting on the par 3s.

In the High Sierra Flight, Dan and Holly Anderson placed first with a net 72. Jack Gilbert and Susie Wiese took second with a 74, and John and Sharla Scott took third with a 77.

In the Lost Sierra Flight, Jeff and Patty Monaghan placed first with a net 69. George and Karen Fraser took second with a 71, and Gary Kinkley and Cheryl Brennan placed third with a 72.

The awards banquet that night included an excellent prime rib dinner overseen by food chair Jay Hendrick and grill chief John Grasso.

The Fall Breakfast Meeting and two-man scramble was held on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Jim Adams and Tom Taylor carded a very nice net 61 to take first place. Norm Miller and George Fraser took second with a 63, and Jack Gilbert and Wally Walker took third with a 64.

The Travel Team concluded a very successful year by beating Sierra Sage on Sept. 20 to secure first place. Other teams in the competition over the past four months included Plumas Pines, Sierra Sage, Fernley, Washoe and Diamond Mountain. Congratulations to Captain Dennis Flynn and his team.

Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club

The PPWGC Captain’s Cup Final was held on Tuesday, Sept. 26. It was a frosty start, but the day soon warmed to be beautiful and sunny. The Captain’s Cup winners are as follows: Sharon Russell – won Low Gross with a score of 84; Bev Parry won Low Net with a score of 69.

The play day results are as follows:

First Flight: Jan Anderson and Darlene Gibaut each scored gross 100. In a card off Jan Anderson won Low Gross and Darlene Gibaut won First Low Net with 77. Judy Rossi and Jackie Luckey each had a net score of 80. Judy Rossi won Second Low Net in a card off.

Second Flight: Low Gross: Laurie Humphries won with a score of 103. First Low Net went to Janet Grijalva with a score of 75. Second Low Net was won by Mary Peters with a 76.

Jan Pierce won Low Putts for the day, having just 24 putts.

Five ladies each had a chip in – Jan Anderson, Jackie Luckey, Jan Pierce, Nancy Bartlett and Connie Raheb.

LACC Women’s Golf

Another great golf season for the Lake Almanor Country Club Women’s 18-Hole Golf League came to an end on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Our last game of the season was Consecutive 3. Before starting our round we each chose three consecutive holes that we would like to deduct from our net score at the end of the round. The winners of the game were:

Flight 1: First place, Jane Hilliard with 54; second place, Susan Espana with 55; and in third place, Linda Yaap and Trudy Leete who tied with 56.

Flight 2: First place, Collette Prentke with 52; second place, Meg Eaton with 54; third place, Peggy Lentz with 56. Peggy also had a chip-in on Hole 9.

The 50/50 pot winners were Trudy Leete and Linda Yaap.

Congratulations to all of you.

We thank our President Trudy Leete and her board for making this a wonderful season. Thank you, also, to the many volunteers who worked alongside them to make our tournaments and special events so much fun. And finally, thank you to our tournament chairpersons, Linda Rawson, Muffy Bui and Meg Eaton for coming up with our games each week. You all did a fabulous job.

We wish safe travels and a happy winter to those of you who are heading for a warmer climate. We look forward to welcoming you back again next spring.

Bailey Creek Women’s Golf Club

What a beautiful day to golf was Wednesday, Sept. 27. September is over and we were officially enjoying a beautiful fall day.

Our game was “Low Net” with an added game of low putts, for any player wanting to join in.

We had two flights paying first and second place, the winners in the first flight were, first place, Donna White and second place was Joan Dickerson, who also won for fewest putts.

Our second flight winners were Marcia Spooner first place and Diana Pallari, second place.

After our play, we all met at Donna White’s home for an afternoon of food and fun.

This year we had voted to start an annual celebration of our “Clubs” finest, with awarding the following players: Most Improved, Club Champion Gross and Club Champion Net. We are happy to announce, Most Improved – Donna White, Club Champion Gross – Joan Dickerson and Club Champion Net – Donna White.

Following the meeting we all enjoyed a fantastic “Thai Dinner” cooked by Chef, Don Grant. It was absolutely delicious and we all thank “Donnie” for a wonderful job done.

Mt. Huff Golf

The golf weather has been excellent, and the great turnout for the Wednesday Morning Scramble on Sept. 27 proved it.

We had two teams tie at 7-under-par giving the honors to the team of Tom Gossett, Ron Carter and Bill McRoberts, as well as the team of Matt Taborski, Jim Battigin and Jeff Stevens.

Jim Battigan hit it closest to the pin, and Ted Trafton won the chip-in.

These scrambles are great for friendly competition and exercise. Come join us each Wednesday morning (weather permitting) for sign-ups at 9:30 a.m. and with play teeing off at 10 a.m.

Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club

On Thursday, Sept. 28,when Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club members played their annual Ace of Aces Playoff tournament, Mother Nature smiled on our players with warm temperatures and lovely autumn colors. In this tournament the low gross and low net winners from each month’s Qualifier vieto bethe 2017Ace of Aces Champion.

This year’s winners were: Low Gross, Priscilla Piper with a score of82 and Low Net,Holly Andersonwith a net score of62.

Allplayers also competed in the game of the day, Red and White, a four-person team game in which the two best net balls counted as the team score on redflagged holes, and the one best net ball counted on the white flagged holes.

And, the winnerswere: First place team – Holly Anderson, Linda Bilger, Alaine Flynne and Giuliana Glazer (83); and, the second place team included Cheryl Brennan, Patty Monaghan, Sharla Scott and Sue Taylor (88).

Cathy Franck, Sharla Scott and Donna Swansoneach had one chip-in.
