Golf Results for the week of 2/7/18

Graeagle Men’s Golf Association

Tuesday, Jan. 30, was a perfect day for golf in Reno. Spring-like temperatures for the end January left our golfers in disbelief with excellent course conditions. Organized through the Graeagle Men’s Golf Association, 20 players from our area and Reno enjoyed the day at Lakeridge GC. In addition to Graeagle, other clubs represented were Plumas Pines, Whitehawk and Wildcreek-Reno.

Because the Northern Nevada Golf Association does not post winter scores for handicapping purposes, the game was Strike 3, where a choice of the three worst holes were stricken from the card leaving just 15 to count for a total score. From that number, the full 18-hole handicap was deducted, leaving some very low numbers for the round.

First place, with a net score 45, was a tie between George Fraser and Chuck Franck. There was a three-way tie for second place with a net 47 shot by Paul Brasso, Ron Eaton and Jim Reynolds. Skins, almost also a part of the game, were awarded to Don Barnes, Ron Eaton, Chuck Franck (2), John Icanberry and Jim Reynolds.

Plans for winter play continue as long as conditions permit. Inquires about winter play or membership in the Graeagle Men’s Golf Association can be submitted to  [email protected] or visit our website at  gmeadowsclubs.com/MenHomeDir/index.html .

Wow — this weather. It was an excellent turnout for the Wednesday Morning Scramble on the last day of January.

In first place at 7-under-par was the team of Dick Grace, Darel Joseph, Don Hubbell and Matt Taborski.

Second place came in at 6-under-par for Duane Austin, Gary Metzdorf and Leo Sorosinski.

Dick Grace hit it closest to the pin and the chip-in was aced by Darel Joseph.

As long as the snow is not with us, we continue to scramble it up on Wednesdays. Come join us. Play tees off at 10:30 a.m.; sign ups are at 10 a.m.
