Golf Results for the week of 7/12/17
Plumas Pines Women’s Golf Club
Tuesday, June 27, for PPWGC was a qualifying day for Captain’s Cup, therefore the game was low gross, low net and low putts. The winners were as follows: Low gross was won by Renee Walker with a score of 85; Jan Anderson won low net with a score of 71.
The play day winners were — Low gross: Sharon Russell with 89; Low net: Judy Rossi with 72; second low net: Laurie Humphries with 75. Lori Dierssen won low putts with 29. No chip ins were scored for the day.
Here are the results for the Fourth of July Golf day at Plumas Pines, a beautiful day full of sunshine and a glorious red, white and blue event.
The format was Par Points.
First Flight winners: Bev Parry with 37 par points took first place; Cathy Cianciolo had 32 par points earning her second place.
Second Flight winners: Mary Stonebraker had 33 par points, taking home first place; Janet Grijalva got 30 par points which earned her second place.
It was also closest to the pin on Hole 11, with Bev Parry and Patty Rohman taking home first place in their respective flights.
There were four chip-ins: Janet Enloe, Doni Burt, Nancy Bartlett, Bev Parry.
Mt. Huff Golf
We’re back. Mt. Huff has returned from the depths of the flood and so has the Wednesday Morning Scramble.
A sizeable crowd showed up on June 28 and it sure felt good to be back out on the links.
The first place ranking at seven under par went to team members Loren Lindner, Mike Ingle, Don McConnell and Jeff Stevens.
Our second place position at four under par, after a chip-off decision, went to Ron Christensen, Margie Joseph, Bill McRoberts and Dwayne Austin.
Ron Christensen had two chip-ins and Mike Ingle hit it closest to the pin.
Yes, Mt. Huff is back, so come to Crescent Mills and hit a few balls in friendly competition.
Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club
The monthly Ace of Aces Qualifier was played on June 29. Each month the low gross and low net winners over the field qualify to play in the season ending Ace of Aces tournament. A player may only qualify once per season. June’s qualifiers were Sharla Scott (low gross) and Lois Childress (low net).
Flight A winners were: low gross, Sharla Scott with a 90; low net, first place, Bev Reynolds andsecond place, Susie Wiese in a tie-breaker (both with 59).
In Flight B the winners were: Ellen Fearing won low gross with a 101; low net, first place, Lois Childress (66) andsecond place, Giuliana Glazer (70). Lois Childress, Annie Fischer, Alaine Flynn and Cathy MacDonald each had one chip-in.
On July 6, GMWGC members played a game of “Sweet and Sour,” in which the player’s score consists of her eight best holes (gross scores) plus her worst hole (gross score), from which she subtracts one-half of her handicap. Flight A winners included: Sharla Scott with 28.5; second place, Cathy Churchill and third place, Cynthia Baldwin, both with 29 in a tiebreaker. In Flight B the winners were: first place, Joann Lake and second place, Diane Shaffett, both with 28 (tie-breaker); third place, Maureen Ford (28.5). Flight C winners were: first place, Kathy Khalar and second place, Giuliana Glazer, both with 28.5 (tie-breaker); third place, Karen Fraser (29.5). Cynthia Baldwin, Karen Fraser, Giuliana Glazer, Ginger Holladay-Houston and Sharla Scott carded one chip-in each.
Graeagle Meadows Men’s Golf Association
Friday June 30 was the usual low net game with skins. Jay Hendrick took first place with the only sub 70 score with a 69. Bill Kennedy and Jack Cornish tied for second with a 70, and George Fraser and Bob McIlroy placed third with 72. Individual skins were collected by Jim Oster, Dick Eck, Jack Cornish, Dennis Flynn, and new member Burrows.
The Wednesday July 5 Play Day was a 1,2, 3, format, with one net best ball counting, then two, then three, and repeating. Norm Nichols, Jack Cornish, Jim Adams and Bryan Hansen placed first with a score of 117. John Scott, John Sciborski, Chuck Pratt and Jim Oster took second with a 120. Darrel Woods, Dennis Flynn, Bryan Hansen and Jack Gilbert placed third with a 127. Two skins each were won by Jim Adams while one each were collected by Chuck Pratt, Bryan Hansen, and Jim Oster.
The annual 2017 Charity Scramble is scheduled for Wednesday, July 26. It will be an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The deadline for entry into this worthwhile event is Friday, July 22. The raffle prizes are excellent as usual. Entry forms are available at the clubhouse or on the website. Direct any questions to Jim Adams or Gary Kinkley. If you don’t have a foursome, Jim and Gary will pair you up.
Plumas Pines Men’s Club
The event for June 29 was Red-White-Blue and Gold. Each player had the choice of four red tees, four white tees, four blue tees, four gold tees then two additional tees of the player’s choice.
Results were: first place – Steve Munsen, 61; second place – Brad Clark, 65; third place – Dave Stone, 66; fourth place (tie) – John Donohue, 67, Kim Roberts, 67 and Charlie Meyers, 67.
Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf
The ladies at Whitehawk Ranch celebrated Fourth of July with a game called Red & Blue Scratch. Each lady played her own ball. If she scored a double bogey an X was placed on the scorecard. The net scores of all players on each team (Red or Blue) was combined and divided by the number of players on that team. The ladies were a vision in red and blue. The winning team was Red. Making up the team were Toni Dick, Kathleen Friedman, Chris Hyatt, Virginia Luhring and Sharon Russell. Nice way to celebrate our nation. Next up: Member/Member.
Bailey Creek Women’s Golf Club
There were many “Snow Bird” members returning to play golf at Bailey Creek this week. It was such fun to catch up with everyone’s last few months. The weather proved to be perfect, warm with a slight breeze.
Our game was “Hate ‘Um,” throwing out one par 3, 4, and 5. The kicker is you must pick the holes before play. Everyone had a great day with Flight 1’s first place winner, Joan Dickerson, second place, Mary Ashburn and finishing third, Betty Dean. Second Flight winners were first place, Diana Pallari, second, Joyce Gronroos and third place, Ginger Birchfield. Mary Craig had a birdies on Holes 4 and 8, Kim Holliday on Hole 4, Barbara Quam birdied Hole 8, Kym Coco birdied Hole 13 and last but not least, Diana Pallari with a chip-in on Hole 2.

The summer seems to be going fast. Once July 4 has arrived and is now gone, we have to enjoy every day.
Our golf game here at Bailey Creek was “Low Net and Putts” with Joan Dickerson placing first in both categories with a Birdie on Hole 8. Donna White was second in low net with a Birdie on Hole 9. Joyce Gronroos placed third in low net.There were no chip-ins this game, good luck to all next week, as the pot will continue to grow.
