Greenville’s Ashlyn Bustamante is ready at the plate to get a Tiger by the tail.

Greenville girls finish strong

The Greenville High softball team finished the season graciously splitting a doubleheader with the Dunsmuir Tigers on May 8 with scores of 9-3 and 2-12. Depending on how you look at it, everyone went home a winner.

Sluggers scoring a run for GHS in the game one victory were junior Rylie Botts, freshman Alexis Goodson and sophomore Brooke Mullen. Scoring two runs  were Greenville sophomore Ashlyn Bustamante, and freshmen Julieanna Fieldson and Lacie Banchio. Senior Destiny Potts hit a double. Bustamante was slick, stealing three bases. Banchio stole two and Botts and Fieldson stole a base. Mullen pitched in game one striking out five Tigers.

Bustamante pitched game two for the Indians and struck out 10 Dunsmuir batters. Goodson hit a double and runs were scored by Banchio and McKenzie Brown.

With only two seniors, Kelsey Heard and Destiny Potts, the GHS girls will be ready for action next year. They played some games without a single reserve player, Indian tough.
