The weekly Wednesday play day took place on May 18 with the wind fairly calm and weather warm. Twenty-one players participated in the format for the day, which was four-man teams, and what is called 1,2,3, or CHA-CHA-CHA, plus skins. Scoring for this game is the best ball of the foursome on the first hole, the two best balls on the second hole, and three best balls on the third hole. The rotation is repeated starting on the fourth hole until the end. The winning team was Norm Miller, Dan Anderson, Andy Knudson and Bob McIlroy with a score of 129. There was a two-way tie for second place between the teams of John Grasso, Steve Harding, Moses Sitauti and Bryan Hanson, and the team of Jim Reynolds, Ron Deicke, Jim Oster and Moses Sitauti (blind draw), with both team scores being 130. Three skins were awarded: one each to Steve Harding, Bryan Hansen and Norm Nichols.
Friday games on May 20 included 23 players for Badditoes. The weather was windy and cool, a complete change from Wednesday. Two-man teams with the better ball of the twosome counted on the par threes and fours, and both balls counted on the par fives. Par for this game is 92. The first-place team was Dan Friedman and Jim Oster with an 87. Jim had a birdy two on a par three, where he received two shots, for a net 0. Second place was won by Dan Anderson and Dave Macdonald with a score of 93. Norm Nichols and Cory Fanti took third place with a score of 94. Fourth, with a score of 95, was the team of Mark Yuill and Ron Eaton. Moses Sitauti and Bryan Hansen came in fifth with a score of 97. There were ten skins awarded: one each to Grant Mayfield, Dan Anderson, Dan Friedman, Jim Oster, Steve Peterson, Moses Sitauti, Norm Nichols, John Jackson, Dave Macdonald and Mario Garibotti.
Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club
Women’s golf members teed it up May 19 for the monthly Ace of Ace’s Qualifier. Good weather and good company held up, the two most important things in a round of golf. The Qualifiers also had great golf games. Congratulations came to Michele Violett, who took Low Gross with a score of 85, and to Donna Ward, who won Low Net with a net 71. The Ace of Ace’s Playoff will take place in late September.
There was also a game of the day, “Just Golf,” which was a simple game of low gross and low net in two flights. Flight A winners were also the monthly Ace of Ace’s Qualifiers: Low Gross, Michele Violett, and Low Net, Donna Ward. In Flight B, the winners were: Low Gross, Darlene Gibaut with a score of 108; and, Beth Yuill won Low Net with a 78.
