Portola snuffs out Dragon fire

The Portola Tigers put a stop to the Delta Christian Dragons, winning 48-0 at the PHS home football game the afternoon of Sept. 16. The Tigers are 1-3 overall for the season.

Four touchdowns were scored by Jaylin Babers. Taylor Koski, Jared Maddalena and Justin Wicks each scored a TD.

The majority of the game was played on the ground with junior Babers leading with a total of 137 yards. Senior Spaniard Clark was right behind with 119 yards.

Senior Eric Jacobson completed both attempted passes for a total of 18 yards.

Leading the defense in tackles was junior Chandler Ross with 12 solo and five assists. Junior Hunter Cabral landed eight solo tackles and had five assists. Ross gave the Delta quarterback a hard time sacking him twice and sophomore Mario Ruiz and Cabral each sacked him once.

Babers was awarded the overall player of the game. Spaniard Clark received special designation for offense, Chandler Ross for defense and Brandon Caballero for special teams.

Chase Nielsen, no. 60, gets a little light-hearted coaching from Jeremiah Marquette.
