100 YEARS AGO … 1917

On Monday this week the Bar Mercantile Company acquired the ownership, goods and general merchandise of the business conducted by Clark J. Lee of Quincy. The business has been in the ownership of the Lee family for the past 51 years, when Cordyn Lee established the business on Harbison Street in downtown Quincy.

50 YEARS AGO … 1967

A 40 cents tax overide proposed for five years to construct Plumas Unified School District classrooms and school facilities as well as to improve playground areas and for the general operation of the Plumas Unified School District was defeated at the election last week.

25 YEARS AGO … 1992

California Highway Patrol officers throughout the state, including those in Plumas County, have been recently trained to carry semi- automatic weapons, specifically the Smith and Wesson Model 4006, instead of revolvers.

10 YEARS AGO … 2007

Locals on TV : Ron and Stephanie Horton of Quincy were featured on a hunting segment of “Northwest Hunter” on the Outdoor Channel, airing several times last week. They are owners of the local Les Schwab tire store in Quincy.
