100 YEARS AGO … 1917

Advertisement: Plumas postal views (post cards), featuring 75 different subjects and locations of Plumas County are available for sale at the Plumas National-Bulletin newspaper office.

Devoted fishermen throughout Plumas County were not especially successful with the opening of fishing season as the waters are very high.

50 YEARS AGO … 1967

Five officers from the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office searched the grounds of Quincy High School and rerouted some 600 students after a bomb scare was telephoned in to the business office at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday morning.

25 YEARS AGO … 1992

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Department has instituted a canine unit using four dogs, all German Shephards: Sarge, Hootch, Gus and Marcus.

10 YEARS AGO … 2007

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Department has taken delivery of a 15,000 pound tactical rescue mobile–the armored bullet proof Humber 4 X 4 or MK2. The 1953 armored 4-wheel drive vechicle was given to Plumas County by the Placer County Sheriff’s Department. Grant money was used to repaint the “pig” as it is affectionately called, to match the Plumas County Sheriff’s department color scheme.
