Report of the Plumas County Free Library: There are a total of 41 branches throughout Plumas County. Number of books in the system: 5382; number of borrowers: 131
Chinese are getting a foothold in Portola and the eastern part of Plumas. Currently there are three Chinese restaurants and two Chinese laundries there in the Portola commercial arena since last winter. A Chinese lodging house has been added to the commerce there also.

“Year of Achievement” is the theme of the annual Plumas County Chamber of Commerce installation dinner meeting scheduled Saturday at the Plumas County fairgrounds where chamber of commerce members and business leaders throughout the county are to attend the annual affair where newly elected officers will be installed including: Wesley Meeker of Portola–president; Bob Cooke of Taylorsville–vice president and Ralph Boss of Quincy–treasurer. Tickets for the dinner meeting are $4.00 per person.
