Vets regroup on the green

Five divisions of military service were represented at the annual Veteran’s Memorial Golf Tournament at Mt. Huff Golf Course on May 26. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard all gathered on the green for a day of sunshine and natural beauty.
“We had 20 Army, 11 Air Force, 13 Navy, eight Marines and one Coast Guard member,” said Veterans Service Officer Jimmy LaPlante.
“We get together any time we can to honor our fellow service members,” said organizer David Smuts.
There was one touching love story at the celebration. Although neither veteran golfed, they both enjoyed the day “viewing” the green. Here is their story: A pair of linguistics experts, Sgt. Reyes and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Czuprynski, met at a field station in Augsburg, Germany, in 1984. They dated for about six month until they were both reassigned elsewhere. A few years ago, in 2014, they found each other via email. Reyes lived in Virginia and Czuprynski in Quincy. In 2015 they met again and shortly thereafter, in 2016, she relocated to Quincy and they were married.
