Vols struggle in Hamilton City
The Chester Volcanoes Varsity boys’ basketball team participated in the Marty Passaglia tourney this past weekend in Hamilton City.
The Vols started out in a slump when they lost Thursday’s game against Mt. Shasta by a score of 68-40.
Chester played hard on Friday against host Hamilton City, but ultimately the Braves took the win by a final score of 66-42.
The Volcanoes got their groove back on Saturday, taking the win against Quincy. The final score was not reported for this game at the time of this writing.
According to Coach Aaron Kelley, Sawyer Durkin played outstanding defense. Coach Kelley recognized Darren Jilbert for his endurance and sportsmanship throughout the entire tournament.
Brandon Dye received all-tourney honors for the Volcanoes.
Chester girls
The Chester Volcanoes varsity girls played a tough tournament in the Marty Passaglia tourney this past weekend.
Chester lost its first game on Thursday to Mt. Shasta by a final score of 50-24.
They played a strong game on Friday against host Hamilton, but unfortunately suffered another loss, by a final score of 44-33.
Nonetheless, the Volcano girls fought hard and finished off their tournament with a 39-37 win over Colusa.
Teresa Miller received the all-tourney honors for the Lady Vols.
