The boys of the Chester football team have built up momentum that is plowing through all of their challengers, one game at a time. The overall Volcano record of 8-0 makes for a league record of 5-0 for the mighty Chester boys.
The latest victory for CHS was Oct. 18 when they played in Princeton against the Eagles to win 46-6. Before that, on Oct. 11, a forfeit from the Herlong Vikings added another positive mark for the Vols record and Oct. 4 the Chester team showed absolutely no mercy for the Mercy Warriors.
The Chester boys took on the Warriors from Red Bluff with a head of steam that pulled them all the way through to win that CHS Homecoming game 56-6.
Next up for the Volcanoes is an away game in Loyalton to fight the Grizzlies on their home turf this Saturday, Oct. 26. The game is the second to last game of the season. Good fortune comes to fans and players as the skies are predicted to be clear with temperatures near 73! Fall colors are still on display with the absence of rain removing leaves from the trees. The noon start time for the game on the easy access field could make the contest one of the most enjoyable of the season.
The Grizzlies were also tough on the Mercy Warriors, beating them last Friday, Oct. 18, by a score of 46-7. The Grizzly record however tells a predictive story of another win for the Volcanoes. Loyalton is 1-5 overall and has a 1-3 record in the league. We shall see how the Loyalton Grizzlies do on their home field when facing the smoldering hot Volcanoes.
The last conference battle for the tough, and thus far undefeated, Volcanoes will be Friday night, Nov. 1. They will host their neighbors, the Greenville Indians. The big game starts at 6 p.m. on the Chester Volcano home field.
The Indians are having a good season, too, 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the league. Let’s hope ‘ol man Winter stays busy elsewhere and the good weather holds out for one last game.
