Wrestlers bring home honors

The Chester High School boys’ wrestling team took first place Saturday, Feb. 18, in Durham during the sub-division tournament.

The Volcanoes captured the Division IV section title by scoring a season-high 136 team points.The competition was the master’s qualifier for this week’s upcoming Redding NSCIF Championships on Feb. 24 and 25. The only thing left after that tournament is the big state championship finale in Fresno on March 3 and 4.

Callum Kremer at 106 lbs. placed first, Trenton Longacre at 113 placed second, Bonner Montgomery at 120 placed fifth, Colton Dreith at 145 placed first, Damien Bergmann at 152 placed fifth, Matt Brooks placed first at 195 and Tony Rogers placed first at 220.

Quincy High

The Quincy High Trojans competed and also came home with honors from the multi-division tournament.

Cruz Quiroz placed fifth at 147 lbs., Josh Greene place fifth at 140, Lane Coelho was sixth at 122, Michael Fowler placed third at 222, Andrew Bagley placed third at 287, Zach Jensen was fourth at 134 lbs. and Devin Partain placed first at 115.

The Trojan team ranked fifth overall in the tournament and earned second place in the CIF Division IV event.
